What door replacement covers here
We replace exterior doors, not the wall around them alone and not the door alone. That covers front and entry doors, patio and sliding doors, and the frame and threshold underneath all of them. Jose put the scope plainly: "We can also do doors, yes [...] we change doors [...] rear doors, or sliding. But what we usually do is windows." Front and entry door replacement
A front or entry door gets replaced when the panel has warped or delaminated, when the door no longer seals against the frame, or when the frame itself has moved enough that the door does not close square anymore. Replacing it means the old door and its frame come out together, not just the panel swapped into the existing frame, and the opening in the stucco or siding gets closed back up around the new one before the job is called finished.
Patio and sliding door replacement
Patio and sliding doors sit in a wider opening than a standard entry door, usually with more glass and a heavier unit to support, which means more of the surrounding wall gets disturbed to get the new door in and squared. A sliding door that has started sticking in its track, no longer latches, or is letting in a draft along the bottom rail is worth having looked at before deciding whether the fix is the door or the opening it sits in.
Whether the surrounding wall is stucco or siding, that wall gets closed and matched around the wider opening before the crew leaves, since a patio or sliding unit disturbs more of the wall face than a standard entry door does.
Door frame and threshold replacement
A door opening is built differently than a window opening. A window sits mid wall, and water sheds off its sill to the outside. A door opening runs from the header down to the slab or the subfloor, and the threshold at the bottom sits right where the wall meets the ground, where water collects and where feet track moisture across it every time the door is used. Closing that base correctly depends on the crew that sets the new door also finishing the wall around it.
Frame and threshold replacement means the deteriorated wood or metal at the base of the opening comes out, the opening gets rebuilt square and level, and the stucco or siding around it, base included, gets patched and finished to match what was already there.

Signs it is time to replace, not repair
Sometimes a door only needs adjusting, and new weatherstripping or a tightened hinge is the whole fix. Replacement becomes the answer once the door no longer latches or seals evenly even after adjustment, once staining or a stucco crack shows up in the wall right below where the door meets the ground, or once the frame itself has visibly warped, rotted, or pulled away from the wall it sits in.
If an adjustment is all it needs, that is what you will hear.
What door replacement costs
What actually sets the price is the threshold and how far any damage runs down toward the slab, and that stays hidden until the old unit and frame come out. Until then, nobody knows whether the frame is square, whether the threshold is sound, or what the base of the wall has been doing. A straightforward swap into a square, sound frame is a different job from one where the frame has to be rebuilt, or where opening the wall turns up dry rot or termite damage that has to be repaired first. Whether the surrounding wall is stucco or siding, how many openings are involved, and whether the job is a standard entry door or a wider patio or sliding unit all move the number.
That is why the frame and the threshold get inspected before a number exists. Requirements vary by city and by scope. We confirm with your local building department before we quote.
The warranty on a door replacement
The two year warranty against water intrusion applies to the exterior stucco assembly we install and repair, including the patch back around a new door opening, threshold included. It covers material and labor on that stucco work. It does not extend to the door unit itself, its hardware or its glass, which carry whatever the manufacturer offers separately. When it is not a door replacement
If the door itself is fine and only the surrounding stucco is cracked or damaged, that is stucco repair, not a door replacement. Interior doors are not a standalone service here either, though one can be added onto interior work already happening, so mention it when you call.

Can more than one door type be replaced in one project, like a front door and a sliding door together?
Yes. When a project includes more than one door, all of them get looked at together and priced on one proposal, not quoted as separate calls.
Does a door replacement include the frame and threshold?
It depends on condition. If the existing frame and threshold are square and sound, sometimes only the door needs to change. If the frame has warped, rotted, or pulled away from the opening, or the threshold has failed, both come out and get rebuilt before the new door ever goes in.
Does patching a door opening take longer than patching a window opening?
Usually a little, since the patch has to reach the threshold and the base of the opening instead of stopping at a sill. That gets built into the schedule and the quote up front, not added on after the door is already in.
How long is the doorway open during a replacement?
The opening gets closed and secured before the crew leaves for the day, never left open overnight. A wider patio or sliding opening takes longer to close than a standard entry door, and the number of days is on your written proposal before you approve it.
What do you need from me to make a warranty claim on the threshold?
